WordLock is a free daily word game. It asks for no account and shows no ads.

What stays on your device

WordLock keeps a few things in your browser's local storage. These never leave your device unless noted below:

Your streak, best streak, and per-day results (for your stats).
Your settings (theme, sound, whether you've seen the intro).
A cache of dictionary words so the game loads fast and works offline.
A random ID (a UUID) generated in your browser, used only to identify your own row on the daily leaderboard. It is not linked to your identity.

Clearing your browser data for this site erases all of it.

What the leaderboard stores

When you finish the daily puzzle, one row is saved to the game's database (hosted on Supabase): the date, your random ID, the display name you optionally type, and your result (moves, attempts, time). The leaderboard is public, so any name you enter is visible to other players. Leave the name blank to appear as "Anonymous."

Services the game talks to

Datamuse and dictionaryapi.dev supply the words and definitions. Your browser sends word queries to them.
Supabase stores the leaderboard and runs the puzzle logic. Your result submission goes there.

These providers receive standard request data (such as your IP address) as part of normal internet requests. WordLock does not send them your name or ID except as described for the leaderboard.

Analytics

The site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and privacy-friendly: it counts aggregate page views and visits to improve the game. It does not use tracking cookies, does not follow you across other sites, and does not store data that identifies you. There are no ads and no advertising trackers.

Removing your data

Clear this site's storage in your browser to remove everything held locally. To have a leaderboard row removed, contact us at the address below.
